TURK PIPKIN AND THE NOBELITY PROJECT RELEASE BOOK & DVD OF BUILDING HOPE

Special Edition Book/DVD Package Arrives Just in Time for the Holidays

Give the Gift that Gives Back

For Immediate Release: Austin, TX, Nov. 14, 2011:  BUILDING HOPE, Turk Pipkin’s inspiring film about Mahiga Hope High School in rural Kenya, is now available to the public in a limited edition, coffee-table book and DVD package, just in time for the holidays. The book includes an introduction by Texas news legend, Dan Rather, who calls Turk’s work “Good journalism wedded to good filmmaking.”

Winner of the Lone Star Audience Award at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival, BUILDING HOPE chronicles The Nobelity Project’s partnership with a rural Kenyan community to build the area’s first high school. The film depicts the connection between a thousand people in the U.S. and an African community working to create a better future for their children.

“Inspirational RedBull for the humanitarian soul.”

- The Austin Chronicle

A limited-edition DVD of the film is included in Turk’s new coffee-table book that tells the full story of Mahiga Hope High School and the amazing journey of The Nobelity Project. The book is filled with Pipkin’s beautiful color photos from Africa to India, and the Amazon to the Himalayas.

All proceeds from the sale of the book/DVD go to support the school programs of The Nobelity Project in the U.S. and Africa, including the Kenya Schools Fund – currently building water systems, classrooms and libraries at a dozen schools in rural Kenya.

The Nobelity Project, founded by Turk and Christy Pipkin, is an education and action nonprofit that engages young people and adults with the issues that will shape our children’s future. Learn more about their key programs at:

“Nine ways to save the world”

– Esquire magazine

Previous award-winning films from The Nobelity Project – Nobelity (2006) and One Peace at a Time (2009) – focus on solutions to some of the most challenging problems we face in the world and include the insights of Desmond Tutu, Willie Nelson, Wangari Maathai and other inspiring leaders.

“The story of The Nobelity Project is much bigger than one movie,” says author and director Turk Pipkin. “What I’ve learned from some of the smartest and most effective leaders around the globe has inspired our partnership with this great community in Kenya. Mahiga Hope High School shows that education doesn’t have to end after the 8th grade. And the book and film of BUILDING HOPE show that each of us has the ability to change the world in amazing ways.”
