The Honi Primary School is just down the road from Mahiga and serves preschool through the 8th grade. The first time we stopped to visit we mostly wanted to visit the kids that would soon be ready to go to Mahiga Hope High. But we found a vibrant, joyous school that reminded us of Mahiga just a few years ago. Classrooms full to the brim, and no electricity or clean water. But they had some of the pieces of a good water catchment system, so we were able to help them repair and install solar purification. On our last trip the school turned out to sing a song about how now they wont get typhoid from the water they drink.
With that basic need covered, the next step for the Honi School is more and better books, and desk and chairs for all the students.
