Perched on the top of a tall peak in the Aberdare Mountains, Mugaka Hill Primary School is the only primary school for this remote community. On our visit in the winter of 2011 we found an eager group of younger primary children in a building poorly insulated against the cold wind with scraps of cardboard boxes in the cracks between the boards. This area has been seriously deforested and the school also has a tree planting program to help restore the natural resources. The new classroom building (see below) will provide shelter from the cold, wind and rain of the mountain winter and the heat and sun of the summer. Enrollment has risen and the population of that area would fill another two classroom building which we hope to fund with Phase Two.
