The Talek School in the Masai Mara region of Western Kenya has an enrollment of 825 students through the 8th grade. Currently housing 250 boys in the boarding school, there is a need for mosquito nets to protect the children from the threat of malaria. The cost is low-less than $10 per net-but out of the reach of most of these students. The day school is free tuition, but boarding fees run about $10/month in an area that is dependent on small herd livestock for income.
Girls education is a struggle in this part of the world, especially for girls who have reached puberty. The school has requested support for sanitary supplies for these girls to help them stay in school. The long term goal at this school would be to complete the girl’s dormitory and have full time girl boarders.
Also in need of a lending library.
